YOU & ME BOX | KIDMOHAIR + VISCOSE and ELASTANE

A soft mohair halo, a subtle viscose sheen, and a comfortable touch of stretch. This box combines kidmohair with a fine viscose-elastane blend to create a cosy, compact knitted fabric, ideal for beanies, turtlenecks, fitted tops, and garments where you want more coverage rather than an airy, transparent finish.

Hold one strand of kidmohair together with either one or two strands of the viscose-elastane yarn. Use one strand for a lighter fabric, or two for a fuller, denser result with more elastic recovery. The elastane is already part of the viscose blend, so there is no need to add a separate elastane yarn.

What’s inside

• One cone of kidmohair yarn, approximately 230 g: 50% kid mohair, 50% polyamide; 900 m per 100 g.
• Two cones of viscose-elastane yarn, approximately 90 g each: 52% viscose, 28% elastane, 20% polyamide; 2,400 m per 100 g.
• Total box weight: approximately 410 g.

Steaming and fabric behaviour

The viscose-elastane blend contracts after the first steaming, drawing the stitches closer together. The knitted fabric becomes more compact and less transparent, while the kidmohair adds a soft, delicate halo.

Expect the dimensions to reduce as the fabric settles. The amount of shrinkage, and whether it is equal in length and width, will depend on your stitch pattern, needle size, tension, and whether you use one or two strands of the viscose-elastane yarn. Do not calculate your finished garment size from an unsteamed swatch.

Always knit a generous sample using your chosen strand combination, gently steam it without stretching or pressing it flat, and let it cool and dry completely before measuring your final gauge. Test the heat and steam on the sample first.

Knitting recommendations

Start with approximately 4.5 mm needles and adjust according to your steamed swatch and the fabric you want. For beanies, turtlenecks, and more opaque garments, aim for a close, even stitch rather than a loose gauge. Check the steamed sample for coverage before beginning your project.

Hand wash gently in cool water, avoid wringing, and dry flat.
